# Import PowerPoint, PDF, and images

Open [Deck Studio](/studio), choose **Import files**, or drop files onto the page. Choose one PowerPoint or PDF, or several images. When conversion finishes, use **Export** to download a portable `.hedydeck` file. You can also present it or create a temporary link.

Already opened a file on the home page? Its library card now has **Convert to .hedydeck**. This opens its saved slides in Studio. Reopening that shortcut preserves your Studio edits.

| Input | Result |
| --- | --- |
| PowerPoint `.pptx` / `.ppsx` | One image per slide, in presentation order. Slide titles and speaker notes are preserved. |
| Older PowerPoint `.ppt` / `.pps` | Text-only slides and available notes. For artwork and layout, save as `.pptx` or PDF first. |
| PDF | One slide per page, in document order. Portrait and landscape pages fit the stage without cropping. |
| PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, BMP | One slide per image, sorted naturally by filename (image-2 before image-10). Animated images become still images. |
| `.hedydeck` / V2 JSON | Opens the original V2 source. **.hedydeck as copy** assigns a new project identity. |

Conversion runs in your browser. The imported artwork is a single image on each slide, up to 1920 × 1080, with letterboxing as needed. You can reorder or remove slides, change titles and speaker notes, move or replace the artwork, and add editable text or other elements. Original PowerPoint shapes and PDF text are not individually editable. Animations, video, and interactive content are not retained. Check the preview, especially for complex PowerPoint slides or substituted fonts. PDF export from PowerPoint is useful when exact layout matters.

Source files are not embedded. The `.hedydeck` includes the converted artwork and notes, and opens without the originals. Keep original files if you need to edit their source objects later. Importing does not upload content. **Create temporary link** separately uploads a copy, including notes, after you request it.

Choose up to **100 MiB total input** and **500 slides/images** per conversion. The finished source package must fit the existing **128 MiB** budget. Temporary sharing has its separate **25 MiB** limit. Split larger sources if needed. For password-protected PDFs, save an unlocked copy first. Unsupported, damaged, or oversized inputs do not create a partially saved Studio project.

## Agent tool

`hedy2_convert` is available through WebMCP, `window.hedyDecks.tools.call`, and Studio's visible Agent command desk:

```json
{
  "files": [
    { "filename": "review.pdf", "mime": "application/pdf", "base64": "<standard base64 file bytes>" }
  ]
}
```

Supply `files` to `hedy2_convert`; do not include a data-URL prefix. For images, supply one object per file. The result includes `id`, `revision`, `slideCount`, `studioUrl`, and conversion limitations. Read or edit the resulting project with the existing tools. Use `hedy2_export` to download `.hedydeck`, or explicitly call `hedy2_handoff` to upload a temporary copy. File-picker import avoids large base64 messages when a browser agent can attach files.
